This is an image inspired by the Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood. However, the twist is the reconstruction of the face with doll-like proportions. Hopefully will be seen as an interesting idea for my photo club challenge “images inspired by….”

“My Father’s Boots”

We went to a garden party today…well there was a garden and there was a party, but due to typical Saddleworth summer weather, the two never quite meshed, so we sat comfortably in the converted barn of our friend’s house, overlooking Alphin Hill enjoying food, wine and good company. Just before we left, another party guest suggested we look up an article on the web by Professor Roderick Arthur Smith, who was educated at Hulme Grammar School in Oldham before continuing his education at St John’s College Oxford followed by Queens College Cambridge. Professor Smith had walked the Saddleworth hills as a boy with his father and would have seen the same views that I photographed less than two years ago for my book project.

Professor Smith’s article is of great interest to Saddleworth folk, but I think there is a general interest too, in the story he tells of “I’m Wearing My Father’s Boots“. Enjoy and imagine you are in the Pennine Hills of Saddleworth!

Solo Exhibition

I’ve been lucky to obtain hanging space for a small exhibition of 17 prints from 1st July for a month. If you’re around Saddleworth in July, do drop in at Sundae’s in the High Street, Uppermill, wander round the first floor exhibition and have a cup of coffee or one of their delicious ice cream sundaes.

Update 13th August. Thank you to everyone who came to the Exhibition and made it such a success and to Sundae’s Cafe and Ice Cream Parlour for hosting the exhibition and extending the show by a further week.
